Beer Funnel Cake


  • 2 bottles beer
  • 1  cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp  baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup  granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup  powdered sugar


  • Mix 1 cup of beer and flour together. Have extra beer? Well, that will help you get your courage to fry, add that to the chef. Add the baking powder, a bit of salt and cinnamon. Mix it all up and pour into a Ziplock bag.
  • Throw the Ziplock bag in the fridge for a few hours.
  • Mix equal parts beer and sugar into a small saucepan and put it over high heat to reduce it into a syrup.
  • In a large, deep skillet, pour in enough vegetable oil to reach 1 inch. Heat to 375°F over medium-high heat.
  • Grab the bag out of the fridge and unzip it a tiny bit. This allows you to squeeze the batter into the hot oil of your deep fryer, making a funnel cake.
  • Let the batter create either a tight or freeform spiral in the hot oil fry until light brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Pour some syrup over the top. Dust with powdered sugar.
