Farmers Market Finds: Celery Root

celery rootWow, this is one of the shittiest photos I’ve taken with this camera. Sorry about that. I didn’t notice until I was looking back and well, I’ve eaten the darn celery root.

Okay, I’m really surprised I didn’t encounter this root vegetable in my childhood because it’s served mashed a lot. Seriously, I wasn’t joking about the mashed veggies.

Celery Root or Celeriac actually is a kind of celery, but it’s cultivated to eat the root part. And well, it tastes like celery. It is most commonly used in soups and stews and well, mashed. Meh.

I’m working on a recipe that has both celery root and parsnips, so stay tuned! Here’s a hint: it won’t be mashed!
