Another month of the Behind The Curtain Dessert Challenge. I didn’t want to skip this one since it’s apples and cinnamon… and I didn’t want to make ice cream.
It’s not new information to those who know me but I don’t like frying. I love fried foods but well, the act of frying foods in hot oil kind of intimidates me. A lot. So I avoid it. I figured if something was tasty enough and fried I should get off my butt to get it. But you can burn calories and still make a tasty fried treat. At least that’s what I’m thinking when I really wanted an apple fritter and didn’t feel like going to a donut shop.
I grew up around many a donut and I thought they were okay. I never went traditional I always went with an apple fritter if there was a choice while my mom always pulled the crueller card. Size does matter in my gluttonous view of the donut world so don’t make em skimpy.

Um, when are you going to open your own bakery. Those fritters, look intimidating. So I’ll leave the frying to you but I will be over to eat them all up.
They were SO easy, even me, a frying dummy can make them! I used a cookie scoop to slowly place them in the hot oil. Pushed them around until they were golden and then drenched them in glaze. I was surprised they were so easy!
Followed the recipe exaxtly and they came out doughy and mushy in the middle. Not good. Wasted my time and money.

My family is mostly meat and tater folk. But I bet they would gobble these up! I had never had almond milk until I went to a friend’s home, whose son is allergic to cow’s milk. It was good!

Thanks for the guidance, I need all I can get, a little electronically challenged here!
Hi Sharon, I don’t have a print recipe button, just a save recipe. I’ll look to see if there is a plugin. Sorry about that!
I have always loved apple fritters. But I have never yet made anything fried… I might have to, now that I’ve seen your apple fritters!
It was seriously my first time frying, it’s a good recipe to start out with!
These aren’t vegan if they use butter/margarine.
Hi Heather, I use Earth Balance margarine, it is vegan.
What kind of cake flour did you use, the presto kind or all purpose?

I use Swans Down Enriched Cake Flour. I hope that helps, comes in a box at most grocery stores.
Great recipe! If you keep the dough balls small, the inside cooks evenly! 🙂
