My kitchen smelled amazing after making these Salted caramel nut bars. And honestly they are awesome. For the base I used spelt because I still have a ton and it worked out fine. The base was a bit crumbly but it didn’t fall completely apart. Plus, who is to notice the base when there is an awesome amount of caramel nuts on top of it? I added peanuts instead of pumpkin seeds. I thought I had some but I think the nibbler in the house took them out. No worries, this recipe can handle a different nut or three. The chocolate on top is just the icing on the cake. I didn’t use the extra salt which I guess kind of defeats the purpose but I used some heavily salted nuts so I didn’t think it needed more.
