Why yes, I did buy my English peas shelled and my favas in the pod. That sounds weird to you? Well, you’ve never had grilled fava (or broad beans) before! Sheesh. While my favourite is fried/roasted like my earlier post, I do enjoy them grilled when I can get them fresh.
It is pretty easy. Toss them in some olive oil and salt. Put on the grill and char them until they start to blister on each side. Open them with your fingers (when they have cooled down a bit, sheesh they need to steam inside anyway), slip them out of their skin and enjoy. Mr. Foreman is pretty good at this job, but it missed a bit of the smokey flavour.
