My first recipe for the cookbook challenge! Appetite for Reduction has some really killer recipes. Since I decided I liked brussel sprouts I thought I would give this recipe a go. I’m so very lazy that the idea of slicing up brussel sprouts wasn’t in the cards. I have a fancypants food processor for that. Seriously, like 5 seconds, and then the clean up. Either way, if you want to work on your chopping skills, start with this recipe.
It is very plain, but it does pack a lot of flavour. When I was making it, I was already thinking of things to add in to make it more flavourful. I decided to try it as is, and I’m glad I did. Very tasty, even with just some onion, garlic, salt and pepper. I might do a drizzle of balsamic on the leftovers, or even stir in some bacon bits. YUM. I also think that cooking it in my cast iron also really helped. It gave it a bit of a smoky flavour and a ton of crispy bits.
